Scientific evidence indicates vitamin D reduces infections & deaths
An open letter from doctors and scientists around the world is calling for goverments to recommend increased vitamin D intake to help combat COVID-19. While many governments are hesitant to promote vitamin D intake, scientists cite its proven safety even at higher daily intakes and strong evidence that it reduces coronavirus infection rates.
To support their signatures on the letter, each signatory includes their recommendations for daily intake—with 4,000 IU daily the clear majority—and their own personal daily intakes. The latter ranges from a low of 1,000 IU daily to 50,000 IU daily; most are between 2,000 IU and 5,000 IU daily.
